Sledding In Happy Hollow

Today we went sledding in Kaysville @ Happy Hollow. It is a great place that I saw on the internet. When we got there, the hollow was full of kids and adults alike sledding and having a good time. A little more snow would have made it a bit more fun. It sure was cold.~ We are sure that we will come back.......

Sledding In West Bountiful

On the Day after Christmas it finally began to snow. My poor Mom and Don had been waiting for snow for their whole visit. Yay! So with the small amount of snow that arrived and with it still snowing we went to the West Bountiful park and went sledding down the hill. We built a snowman, which is something that Mom had always wanted to do. It was fun. ~ Maybe it will snow some more before they leave.

Christmas Family Photos

We took some photos in front of our Christmas Tree.

Sledding

Today it snowed. We took the children sledding on a hill in a park near our home. It was grand. We took a ride up thru Little Cottonwood Canyon, up to the ski resorts of Snowbird and Alta. The snow was falling pretty hard there. We were able to try our tire cables out for the first time. They work, YAY!!! It was a little scary, but Tim is a great driver. We thought to sled there, but the snow was falling too hard and everyone was leaving, so we thought better for it and left too.

Park City

We took a drive up to Park City today. It was great. The kids loved the view. They were hoping to get to play in some snow, but alas, there just wasn't much, except for on the slopes. The ski slopes opened on Thursday and of course they are making snow especially for those skiers. We drove up to the Olympic museum, but didn't go in. We will save that for another time. We walked around the town of Park City and toured an art museum and went into a couple of cool shops. We even rode the Trolley. We had a fun time. Brandon said that it was the best Saturday of his WHOLE life.

Mom and Don came to Utah for the weekend for a visit. We went to Ogden Canyon to see the Fall colors. It was rainy, but the weather held long enough for us to get some good photographs.

Halloween

Kate and her friend Daniel went to the Halloween dance at the High School. Kate went dressed as Little Dead Riding Hood and Daniel went as the Big Bad Wolf. Before the dance they helped out at the ward party. Daniel made so many little kids cry that he had to remove his hair and teeth. Can you believe that he does NOT have on a mask. Masks were forbidden for the dance, so they made this specifically for this dance. Great, huh?

Bingham Canyon Copper Mine

Today, we went to the Bingham Canyon Copper Mine in Herriman, Utah. It was very interesting to see the huge hole and mounds of dirt.

This is a tire from the huge dump trucks that are used in the mine.

Boy Scout Camp

Brandon went to Camp Euchee this year for Boy Scout Camp. We
went over for a visit on Wednesday. He is having a great time. One of his activities is shooting rifles and for the first time while we were there Brandon shot a 12-guage shotgun. He hit 2 out of 3 clay pigeons. He is an excellent shot.
.
Bishop Wilson is there as a Scout leader as well as Bro. Hensley as the Stake Scout Master. It helps that Brandon knows them both so well.
.
Brandon's friend Jeffrey went also.

STRAWBERRY PICKIN'

Brandon and I went Strawberry picking at Akers of Strawberries in Baker, Florida. We picked a little over 20 pounds in about 45 minutes. They were the yummies strawberries. Later I made some jam, WOW! delicious. The strawberries were huge and red all the way through. Definately worth the drive and the work.

The Prom

Kate went to the Mormon Prom with Adam Pannell. She and I picked the fabric out for the shrug for her dress. I sewed the shrug with some help with the sleeves, from my mother.
Adam met us at the Riverwalk for photographs.
Kate looked so beautiful.
The Prom was held at the Foxrun Stake Center.

Crossover Ceremony

While in Webelos, Brandon completed the requirements to earn the Arrow of Light. In the Crossover Ceremony, Brandon and his Webelos mates "crossed over" a wooden bridge that they built with planks that had the words "Trustworthy", "Loyal" etc. until the entire bridge was completed. Then the boys were able to walk across to Boy Scouts. It was so cool. We are so proud of Brandon. Eagle Scout~here we come.
